Come to our May General Meeting
...Friday, May 5th at 7:00 PM. Be sure to sign the guest register and enjoy a fun presentation about Jade and a social hour with great snacks.
Come to our May Membership Meeting
... Monday, May 8th, at 7:30 PM to learn more about our club and complete your application... You can be a member by May 15th.
Cost to join for Regular Membership including dues and fees is $60.00. To be considered for membership, full payment is required with your application. Currently we accept only checks or cash. Our membership year runs from October 1st through September 30th. Dues are not prorated.
Requirements of Membership
We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. We rely on every member to step up and do their share in support of club activities, functions and events. Your commitment in this regard is implied in your application for membership. Membership is open to persons with an interest in rocks, minerals, gems, Earth sciences, lapidary, jewelry making, and all related areas of crafts or collecting. To become a member:
Attend one General Meeting or one qualified social event
General Meetings are held on the First Friday of each month beginning at 7:00 PM at the SFGMS Clubhouse 4134 Judah Street, San Francisco, CA (between 46th and 47th Avenues)
Qualified social events include, but are not limited to:
- Annual Officer's Installation Dinner (January)
- Club Open Houses (occasional - check schedule)
- Annual Gem & Mineral Show (August)
- Christmas Party (December)
Social Meetings are held at different dates and times, and sometimes at different locations than General Meetings. Call the Clubhouse (415-564-4230) to verify date, time, and location of an upcoming social meeting.
Your attendance must be recorded in the guest book to meet the requirement.
Attend a Membership Meeting
Applications are provided and accepted only at Membership Meetings, which are held once a month on the Monday following the General Meeting, at 7:30 PM at the Clubhouse. (Verify this when you attend your first General or Social meeting).
Pay the initiation fee and membership dues
A one-time initiation fee of $30.00 is collected with your application. The regular annual membership dues are $30.00. (The total cost for a single Regular Membership at the time you join would be $60.00). Associate Memberships, are $20.00/year. Junior Memberships are $12.00/year. but junior membership must be associated with a regular membership. (One regular membership is required for each family group).
Members in good standing are entitled to use the shop and receive instruction in various disciplines of the hobby. The nominal charge for shop use is $3.00 per shop session. You must wear your membership badge while using the shop. (There is also a very nominal fee for the use of some specialized equipment, like the large diamond saws).
